Woodling Opens 1961 Season with a Bang


This is a 1961 MLB season replay using Replay Baseball



April 10, 1961



The 1961 season opened at Griffith Stadium as the White Sox took on the Senators. Gene Woodling hit a three run homer in the Bottom of the 6th inning off Early Wynn to give the Senators a 3-1 lead.

The lead would hold up as Dick Donovan would go the distance for the Senators.

The 1961 season will get into full swing tomorrow with 8 games on the schedule. The defending AL Champion Yankees will send Whitey Ford to the mound as they host the Twins. The defending World Series Champion Pittsburgh Pirates will travel to San Francisco to take on Willie Mays and the Giants. Bob Friend will get the start for the Pirates
