Giants Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start

April 19, 1951

Wes Westrum helped his team muscle past the Boston Braves, 7-4. In the game, the New York catcher went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The winner was New York reliever Dave Koslo, now 1-0. The loser was Dick Donovan.

New York, now 1-3, is off to a slow start. New York relied on the hitting of Whitey Lockman to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Giants on top, 4-0. For the game, Lockman had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Westrum.
