Red Sox Notebook: Projecting a Big Second Half for the Red Sox

It was a frustrating first half of the season for the Red Sox but all signs point to a much better second half. The Red Sox are 49-41 but based on run differential should be 50-40. The Yankees are 57-31 but their run differential suggests they should be 54-34. These things have a way of working themselves out.

Another good sign is both the Indians and Rangers have a record that is better than their production. These are two of the teams in the mix for a wild card spot.

The Rays appear for real though. They should actually be two games better than their actual record.

The Red Sox are also trending up as get ready for the second half. The Red Sox are a season-high 8 games above .500 and have won each of their last 4 games.

They lead the majors in AVG (.272) and OBP (.345). During their current 15-7 stretch, they lead MLB in runs per game (7.0).

Their +100 run differential since Apr. 19 ranks 2nd in MLB.
