Red Sox Drop Second Straight

This is a 1948 Boston Red Sox Season Replay using the baseball simulation engine of Out of the Park Baseball

April 26, 1948

The Washington Senators knocked off the Boston Red Sox, 5-3. Washington starter Ray Scarborough pitched well enough to earn top player honors. The Senators are off to a tough start, getting just their 3rd win in 8 games.

The Senators got a big at-bat from third baseman Eddie Yost. For the game, Yost went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Washington a 5-3 lead.

"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Scarborough. "Successful pitchers do it."

The Red Sox now drop to 4-3 after dropping their second straight. They trail the Indians and Browns by one game. The Cardinals keep their half game lead over the Dodgers in the NL.

The Red Sox will take on the Senators again tomorrow. Joe Dobson (1-1) will take the hill for the Red Sox and the Senators will pitch Mickey Haefner (1-0)
