Tanana Dominant as Red Sox Lose Again

This is a 1986 Boston Red Sox Season Replay using the baseball simulation engine of Out of the Park Baseball

April 9, 1986

Detroit starter Frank Tanana had a strong outing against the Boston Red Sox at Tiger Stadium. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 3-1 win. At 2-0, the Tigers have played well so far. Tanana was effective for Detroit, seldom allowing the Red Sox to square up a pitch. The left-hander tossed 87 pitches over 8 innings. He limited Boston to just 1 run on 3 hits.

"Frank is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Sparky Anderson The Red Sox fall to 0-2 on the season and will send Dennis Boyd to the hill tomorrow against the Tigers to avoid the sweep. The Tigers are expected to start Randy O'Neal

The Tigers and Brewers are both 2-0 and tied for first in the AL East while the Athletics and Rangers are also both 2-0 and sit in first in the AL West. The Cardinals, Mets and Expos are all at 1-0 and lead the NL East while Dodgers are 2-1 and lead the NL West.
