One of the many things I love about Out of the Park Baseball is how much it can teach you about the history of the game. I was just starting a 1958 replay season with the San Francisco Giants when Willie Mays hit an inside the park homerun. It made me wonder how many he hit in real life. That is when I came across this great post by Derek Bain on Seamheads.
The post is from 2016 and Derek lists the all time leaders in inside the park homeruns from 1950 through 2015. It is a pretty cool list. Check it out here.
Mays would hit 6 in his career. Here he is doing it off Johnny Podres in the world of Out of the Park Baseball. Jim Gilliam had a tough time in left field.
If you can't get enough of Willie Mays and Out of the Park Baseball, here is video of Willie robbing Duke Snider of extra bases in the same simulated game
