Out of the Park Baseball 19 and Beating the Dodgers

Out of the Park Baseball 19 is out and it is better than ever. It seems like I say that every year but it is true. They keep on improving on an incredible game. I am actually giving away two copies of the game on Opening Day. If you are interested you can get all the details here.

Back to the game, I actually wasn't that excited for the release this year. Out of the Park Baseball 18 was so perfect that I just didn't see how 19 was going to be any better. The big news before the release was the graphics and 3D gameplay would be better. The only issues with that is I like to play my games out in webcast mode. Webcast mode gives you that baseball on the radio feel to it and I love it.

I went ahead and bought a copy of OOTP 19 even though I get a free copy every year. My purchase was a thank you to everyone for giving me so many hours of enjoyment. I started the game and decided to play in 3D mode just to see what it was like and I was blown away. The ballparks look incredible and the gameplay is so smooth. They had done it again. I don't see how you can be baseball fan and not own this game.

As many of you know I run all kinds of dynasties with Out of the Park Baseball. I have dedicated a separate blog to one of my historical dynasties. It is called Retro Baseball and it is a lot of fun to play and write about.

Most of my dynasties involve the Red Sox in some way and then I have some that involve the Braves. I figured it was time for something new with the release of OOTP 19. I decided to take over a franchise for the 2018 season. I wanted a franchise that had tradition but also had some issues. I decided on the Giants.

The Giants are really an intriguing team this year. They acquired Andrew McCutchen and Evan Longoria in the offseason but they are coming off a season where they won just 64 games. Their farm system is awful and they have the #2 overall pick in June.

It is team that is built to win now but might have to be blown up if the 2018 season gets away from them. It is a a fun type of team to run.

If Opening Day is any indication, this dynasty is going to be a lot of fun to run. The Giants opened up on the road against the Dodgers and had to face Clayton Kershaw.

Madison Bumgarner took the hill for the Giants, no broken hand in this world, and he was dominant. The problem was the Giants' defense wasn't good at all. Longoria made a throwing error on his first play as a Giant.

Three errors led to two Dodger runs and we went to the 9th inning trailing 2-0. Kershaw had thrown just 96 pitches but I guess that was more than enough for Dave Roberts as he turned to closer Kenley Jansen in the 9th inning.

Buster Posey loved the decision as he homered and the Giants added four runs in the 9th inning. Mark Melancon got the save and the Giants had an improbable Opening Day win against Kershaw and their hated rival. It was a blast to play

If you want to take a look at all the new features watch the preview below:

Below is the boxscore from that incredible Opening Day win. Don't forget you can still win a free copy of the game by going here.
