Injury Update on Andrews and Wyatt

This is a fictional series chronicling the alternative history of the Boston Red Sox starting in 1967 using the baseball simulation engine of Out of the Park Baseball

The Red Sox got some good news and some bad news on the injury front. John Wyatt had an MRI on his shoulder and it was clean. Red Sox team doctors have diagnosed him with a mild shoulder strain. A DL stint won't be needed. He will be listed day to day. Wyatt pitched one inning on Opening Day and did not appear in yesterday's game. Manager Dick Williams says they will use some caution with Wyatt over the next week.

The Red Sox did not get good news on Mike Andrews. Andrews had a huge day yesterday going 3-3 with two doubles. On one of those doubles he slid awkwardly into second base and had to leave the game. Andrews has a severe hip strain and could be out for approximately five weeks.

The Red Sox placed Andrews on the 30 day DL and called up catcher Russ Gibson. Gibson will join catchers Mike Ryan and Bob Tillman on the active roster. Dalton Jones is expected to get the majority of time at second base.
