In a low-scoring game between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees, pitcher Gary Waslewski was masterful on the mound. The Boston right-hander was named the player of the game in Boston's 2-0 win.

The Yankees fall to 3-6 and continue their uneasy start to the 1967 season. Mike Andrews hit a run-scoring double off Fritz Peterson in the bottom of the third, which put the Red Sox in front, 1-0. In addition to the double, Andrews had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

"Enjoyed this one," Waslewski told the Boston Observer. "But it's back to work tomorrow."

The New York Yankees picked up a win at Fenway Park, knocking off the Boston Red Sox, 2-1. Starting pitcher Al Downing, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. New York reliever Dooley Womack picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1.

Jim Lonborg took the loss. New York, now 3-5, is off to a slow start. The Yankees got a big at-bat from shortstop Ruben Amaro Sr. For the game, Amaro Sr was 1 for 4 with a double and was hit by a pitch. In the top of the tenth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave New York a 2-1 lead.

"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Amaro Sr.
