The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees obliged those fans who came to Fenway Park looking for a good time. The Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees, 6-5, at Fenway Park. The Red Sox got a fine performance from left fielder Joe Vosmik, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-4 with a triple and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Fritz Ostermueller picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-0. He struck out 3 in 8 innings. Vosmik had a big at-bat with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the eighth inning, when he hit a single. The Red Sox went on to win.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Vosmik said. Boston, now 6-4, has gotten their season off to a good start.
